What is soul momentum?

soul: the spirit in a human being; the unique stamp of the inner person (the essence of who you are)

momentum: strength gained by motion (strength gained after you take the first step)

soul momentum: your natural instinct for growth (you have what it takes)

The work of counseling can be challenging, but the good news is, once you make space for your soul to speak and be heard, to reflect and consider, you’ll be amazed by the insights you gain. Your soul has a natural instinct for growth and healing. Even if you feel stuck, there’s something in your deepest longings that attracts you to wholeness.

There is a deep part of ourselves that is discerning and careful and has a bent toward protection. It only emerges when it is safe to do so. But this kind of environment is hard to find in the whirl of the everyday. Conversations are fast paced and decisions must be made on the go. Too much action without reflection. Let’s slow down a bit together and consider what great gains can be realized in the sacred space of counseling.

‘The soul is like a wild animal—tough, resilient, savvy, self-sufficient, and yet exceedingly shy. If we want to see a wild animal, the last thing we should do is go crashing through the woods, shouting for the creature to come out. But if we are willing to walk quietly into the woods and sit silently for an hour or two at the base of a tree, the creature we are waiting for may well emerge, and out of the corner of an eye we will catch a glimpse of the precious wildness we seek.’
