services

Teletherapy: Teletherapy is virtual therapy provided through a secure video connection. It’s the same treatment as in person, it’s just done through a computer or phone. This offers the benefit of counseling from the comfort of your own home or even from a different state or country. Check out my contact page for more information about booking your first session.

Walk and talk therapy: this is a service offered for established clients who want to meet at a designated location for walking and talking therapy. This kind of movement therapy can be effective for accelerating the ability to process emotion, especially when face to face counseling is a challenge. Movement helps us process through complex emotions and circumstances. Please inquire with me if you are interested. These appointments typically supplement teletherapy; they do not replace it.

“Solvitur ambuando; it is solved by walking.”

Spiritual direction: I identify with a contemplative Christian faith but I enjoy seeing people from any religious or non-religious background. I offer a pastoral type of care for those seeking spiritual direction which focuses on connection with God and often incorporates prayer, meditation, Lectio Divina, (or a slow reading of scripture), and other contemplative practices. The goal is to recall or awaken to the presence of God in your life: to gaze; to become aware of God. Spiritual direction can be interwoven with traditional therapy or a stand-alone, non-clinical service.

“Prayer resides in our bodies, waiting to be unearthed in the gestures of everyday life.”- Celeste Snowber

therapeutic style

While I pull from a variety of therapy modalities (family systems, lifespan integration, CBT, etc.), I tend to focus on the here-and-now. There’s much to discover about what goes on in your life outside of therapy, but what happens in therapy between counselor and client can offer a barometer of what kind of life you are creating and how others experience you.

Counseling is like a microcosm of what happens in your life at large and can offer powerful insights that may be beyond your immediate awareness. This kind of reflection, especially within the context of a therapeutic relationship, is helpful in gaining the kind of insight that leads to breakthrough and helps you see more clearly the obstacles holding you back.

I aid clients in attending to their bodies as well as their thoughts and emotions. We miss some very important messages or clues that our bodies send us that help us increase our personal awareness. The use of mindfulness, (slowing to pause and pay attention), can be extremely helpful in “tuning in” to discover what lies beneath all of the noise of daily life.

My strongest asset to clients is helping them form a strong personal identity and the ability to enjoy themselves.
